CREDO
We trust composers' (all ages) musical imaginations.
• encourage & build confidence in each composer.
• challenge composers to do better than last time.
• teach resilience in the face of disappointment. (There's always disappointment.)
• have each others' backs = support each other + hold each other accountable.
• have fun as Neitzsche suggests: "Without music, life would be a mistake."
We endorse and teach music literacy in standard, jazz, graphic, improvised, and digital music practices.
• know the rules.
• look for music that finds a way to break the rules.
We dedicate ourselves and our students to the creative process, first.
• institute (verb) = originate or establish, organize
• institute (noun) = society or organization
• teach to generate, analyze, revise and capture music ideas
• insist performing and recording are part of the creative process
• offer intensive creative experiences moving to a presentation of final creative projects
We produce online and in-person experiences in English to composers around the world.
• host faculty and staff from throughout the United States
• produce online and in-person sessions that are available on our YouTube channel
