The purpose of Composers Institute scholarships is to encourage participation of composers overcoming barriers and/or recognizing achievement. Ask for help or ask questions at any point in the process. Email our Scholarship Facilitator, Pat Steege here.
Barriers. All scholarships are gifts. They do not need to be repaid. Composers Institute works to eliminate barriers that might exist on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical-medical-mental ability, religious identity, familial status, economic status or musical training or genre. These inclusion scholarships are possible with the generous support of the ASCAP Foundation and the BMI Foundation.
Achievements. Achievement scholarships are funded by state chapters of the National Federation of Music Clubs for "members" students. These scholarships are awarded by each state to students who participated in the Junior Composers Contests. Click here for information about "membership" and contests and deadlines. Deadlines for these competitions frequently occur in the Autumn/Winter.
For Minnesota residents, only. Scholarships are available for Minnesota residents, age 14-18 through the Minnesota Office of Higher Education's Summer Academic Enrichment. These awards must be coordinated with Composers Institute. We strongly encourage you to Initiate this process as soon as possible by emailing Pat Steege.
